Inschrijvingen

Registration

Chamber of Commerce

You are obliged to register your company with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.

All partners must be present when registering. Furthermore, you must bring the following with you:

  • Personal identification
  • Company address
  • Name of the company

Tax and Customs administration

After you have registered with the Chamber of Commerce, you will receive a tax identification number depending on the legal entity. In some cases, you will need to apply for this separately. This number means the tax authorities consider you a registered company. This tax identification number will be requested when you apply for a loan, permit or insurance.

Most businesses are required to charge their customers VAT (value added tax). The Dutch Tax Administration will give you a tax registration number. For businesses that pay very little VAT, the Small Business Allowance (Kleine ondernemersregeling) will apply, allowing you to pay less (or no) VAT.

If you are sure you are ready to set up a business, you should request the Opgaaf gegevens startende ondernemers form (Statement of information by a new business) from the Starters` Desk at the Dutch Tax Administration. The Tax Administration will make a provisional assessment of your business and decide whether to give you a VAT registration number or not.
